Throughout her years as a physical therapist, she has worked with all ages and a multitude of different diagnosis and conditions. Ashley provides care through one-on-one treatment sessions. She believes in providing quality care and working together with her clients as a team to reach his or her goals. Together with Ashley, you will identify your needs and a comprehensive, collaborative individualized plan will be created. Ashley provides a holistic outlook to care, looking for the cause of the problem and not just treating the symptoms. She uses a combination of traditional Physical Therapy and John F. Barnes' Myofascial Release techniques to treat the physical, emotional and spiritual aspects of YOU that need to be addressed to provide long lasting changes and allow you to live a more healthy, pain-free, active lifestyle.
Ashley will obtain information from you regarding current and past medical history and formally assess body alignment, range of motion, strength, flexibility, coordination, mobility and movement patterns to identify the needs that are specific to you. Traditional physical therapy exercises and activities will be provided to you as appropriate including but not limited to strengthening, stretching, and balance activities in conjunction with myofascial release, a manual therapy modality that will help you meet your goals.
Myofascial release is a safe, effective, whole body, hands-on technique. It involves gentle, sustained pressure to the areas of the body that are tight or not moving properly. These are restrictions in the body that can be as great as 2,000 pounds per square inch of pressure, which is like a horse sitting on you, so no wonder you are unable to move and are experiencing pain!
With myofascial release, we are safely able to reduce the pressure on these pain sensitive structures to assist you in your recovery and wellness. The time element is essential in this technique to allow the body's fascia to elongate without forcing the system. Fascia is a three dimensional web of thick connective tissue that surrounds every bone, muscle, nerve, vessel, organ, and structure in the body. The fascia cannot be seen on traditional imaging such as x-rays or MRIs which leaves many people who have myofascial restrictions or pain in search of answers.
This may be the missing link for you to help you on the road to recovery and wellness!
